AND THEN…
And Then… is the inaugural feature from SAN Films — a theatrically released romantic comedy that established the studio’s cross-border production model and international creative identity.
Shot in Australia with a multinational framework, the film explores love, timing, and identity through a contemporary lens shaped by both Asian and Western sensibilities. Its character-driven storytelling reflects SAN Films’ foundational belief that emotionally resonant narratives can travel across cultures when grounded in universal themes.
The film is directed by Moon Hyun-sung, whose work across Korea and Japan is recognized for emotionally grounded storytelling. He has collaborated with leading regional talent, including Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi, reflecting his established presence within the Asian film landscape.
The production is led by internationally recognized actors Sota Fukushi, one of Japan’s most prominent leading men known for his versatility and global appeal, and Hong Jong-hyun, whose refined screen presence has established him as a respected figure in Korean cinema and television. Their collaboration anchors the film’s multinational scope and signals SAN Films’ commitment to working with top-tier regional talent within globally positioned productions.
As the studio’s debut, And Then… laid the groundwork for SAN Films’ long-term strategy: building sustainable creative bridges between Australia and Asia while positioning Asian filmmakers and actors within international markets.

Following its debut feature, SAN Films expands its slate with Bonsai & Bullet, the origin film of the studio’s first interconnected franchise platform — The ROOTCODE Universe.
Developed within an international production framework and set in Australia, the film integrates action, romance, and character-driven storytelling within a narrative shaped by the emergence of ROOTCODE — a hidden force rooted in nature yet capable of influencing identity, memory, and power across borders. Designed as both a standalone feature and the foundation of a larger mythology, the film introduces a universe where biological origins and technological consequence intersect.
The production continues SAN Films’ cross-cultural strategy, strengthening collaboration between Australia and Asia while creating structured pathways for regional filmmakers and actors to engage in globally scaled productions, including access to major international markets and the Hollywood studio system.

THE ROOTCODE SERIES
In parallel with the feature roadmap, SAN Films is developing a six-episode limited series set within the expanding ROOTCODE Universe.
The series expands the mythology introduced in Bonsai & Bullet, exploring how a force born from nature evolves into something capable of reshaping lives across territories and generations. While connected to the feature narrative, the series will introduce new perspectives and deepen the universe’s biological and technological dimensions.
Development is structured to accommodate international collaboration, reflecting SAN Films’ continued commitment to cross-border production between Australia and Asia and sustained expansion into global markets.
